London set to host Miss Congo UK
Event to raise awareness about sexual violence Congolese women undergoMiss Congo Beauty Pageant UK 2011 will be held in London on 1st July at the luxurious IF Bar (Ilford). Twelve chosen contestants will fight it out for the title of Miss Congo Beauty Pageant UK 2011.
It will be a night filled with music from all countries, dance and fashion.
Miss Congo Beauty Pageant UK aims at raising awareness about sexual violence women of all ages undergo in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
It was founded by Disk and Jockey Entertainment, a group managed by four young Congolese entrepreneurs: Francois Tshimpuki, Nadege Tshiobi, Reagan Panzu and Laku Pululu, with a young Ethiopian entrepreneur called Ebenezer Teferi, all from East London.

Disk and Jockey Entertainment decided to found the pageant to celebrate the beauty of Congolese women in the UK while at the same time appealing to the international community to act to stop violence against Congolese women back home.The winner of Miss Congo Beauty Pageant UK will not only get a chance of travelling back home but will also be a cultural ambassador of the Congolese community in the UK. She’ll have the responsibility of raising awareness on all the issues affecting Congolese women and help raise funds for projects fighting violence against women and supporting the victims.
Miss Congo Beauty Pageant UK 2011 will be held on the same day and at the same party to mark Congo’s 51 years of independence.
The organisers of Miss Congo Beauty Pageant UK 2011 are keen to ensure that the event reminds all community members that they can do something to stop violence against Congolese women and support the victims.
